This year, the Port of Halifax will:
Halifax Harbour has been home to Canada’s East Coast Navy for over 100 years. As a proud supporter for the Navy, the Port of Halifax appreciates their contribution to the country and continues to strengthen our cooperation in creating a greater Halifax.
In 2010, HPA worked with the Canadian Navy to celebrate their Centennial year. The Halifax Seaport docked Navy vessels from across the world and we hosted a Fleet Review reception for some of the veterans. The Navy has played a significant role in our shared history in the past and will keep doing so in the future.
HPA wants to recognize all the men and women of our naval forces, who have been providing hope and help to people in and out of the country, in the past and at the present. In recent years, after departure from Halifax, the naval forces bring much needed aids to Canadian citizens and local resident in countries like Haiti and Libya.
HPA would also like to congratulate Irving Shipbuilding and the Royal Canadian Navy on the upcoming $25 billion dollar contract that was awarded to Irving Shipbuilding. This will mean economic spinoffs for the region. Congratulations!
